We personally like being in the Playacar area because we like walking the beach, streetside and going into town if we want. It's also close to a mall area that you can safely walk to. I didn't do Elite and don't feel it's necessary, but the entire resort is elevated to a better level. Most of the rooms have an ocean view and it's a new RIU concept with an Elite offering.
